As the summer transfer window begins to heat up, Manchester United look set to make a major change between the posts.
With uncertainty growing around the future of their current No.1, Andre Onana, the club is now moving swiftly to secure a reliable and proven replacement.
The message from Old Trafford is becoming increasingly clear. If the right offer arrives, United are open to letting the Cameroonian leave.
The player himself has not ruled out a move, and interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia only adds fuel to the speculation.
Also, previously, Transfer New Live reported that Ruben Amorim wants Andre Onana to stay at Old Trafford.
But while some questions remain unanswered at the back, others seem to be finding resolution.
The club’s search for a new goalkeeper has quietly picked up pace, and according to Football Insider, the focus is now firmly on Emiliano Martinez, the World Cup winner currently playing for Aston Villa.
He is 32, experienced, and knows the Premier League inside out.
More importantly, he is highly regarded by incoming manager Ruben Amorim, who has identified him as his ideal choice to take charge of United’s goal if Onana leaves.
With strong distribution, leadership, and big-game mentality, the shot-stopper is seen as a perfect fit for the style Amorim wants to implement.
What adds further weight to the move is the change that has taken place behind the scenes.
The Argentine goalkeeper recently made a big decision off the pitch, one that signals his intent to secure a transfer this summer to a massive club.
That decision involved hiring one of the most influential agents in football world.
Jorge Mendes, known for brokering major moves across Europe, is now leading the effort to find Emiliano Martinez a new home.
The super-agent Jorge Mendes has a very good relationship with Manchester United.
If things continue at this pace, Emiliano Martinez could soon be preparing for life at Old Trafford.
For Manchester United, it could be a statement move, bringing in a proven winner at a time when clarity and confidence are needed at the back.
