Newcastle United could face a huge summer battle to keep hold of one of their biggest stars.
The club is under growing pressure to balance finances ahead of the new season, and there are increasing fears that at least one major player sale could arrive in the coming months.
Several key Newcastle players have already attracted interest from top European clubs.
However, Anthony Gordon has now become the centre of serious transfer attention ahead of the summer window. The winger remains highly rated across Europe despite an inconsistent campaign.
His pace, directness and Premier League experience continue to make him an attractive option for clubs searching for attacking reinforcements.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona have all been linked with Gordon in recent months. However, one European giant has now moved ahead of the competition.
According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich have officially opened talks with Newcastle United over a move for Anthony Gordon.
The report also states that Bayern are confident they can beat Premier League rivals to complete the deal this summer.
Gordon is reportedly open to leaving Newcastle despite signing a contract extension until 2030 back in October 2024.
The Magpies are believed to value the winger at around £75 million after signing him from Everton for £45 million in 2023.
However, Bayern reportedly see his value closer to £55 million and are not currently willing to meet Newcastle’s asking price.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an outstanding first full season at St James’ Park, registering 11 Premier League goals and 15 assists.
His numbers have dropped slightly since then, but interest in him has remained strong across Europe.
Barcelona have also reportedly held discussions with Gordon’s representatives, although they are yet to begin club-to-club talks.
For now, Bayern appear to be leading the race as uncertainty over Gordon’s future continues to grow.
