Barcelona’s summer rebuild may finally be about to explode into life after weeks of speculation surrounding the club’s attacking plans.
Hansi Flick wants more pace, aggression and directness in wide areas ahead of next season despite guiding Barcelona back to the top of Spanish football.
Several attacking names were discussed internally during recent months. They are even looking to make Marcus Rashford’s loan deal permanent.
However, another Premier League winger quickly emerged as the club’s priority target behind the scenes.
Barcelona officials reportedly accelerated negotiations dramatically over the last 24 hours as they attempted to move ahead of rival clubs across Europe.
According to journalist Jose Alvarez from El Chiringuito, Barcelona are now edging extremely close towards completing a deal for Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon.
Fabrizio Romano also claimed that the Catalan giants already reached a total agreement with the England international regarding personal terms.
Now, focus fully shifted towards finalising negotiations with Newcastle United.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta, sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick are all reportedly completely aligned on the signing.
Talks between both clubs continue progressing positively, with Newcastle demanding around £75 million including add-ons.
The Catalan side reportedly want to close the transfer quickly to avoid further competition from Bayern Munich and Premier League clubs.
Bayern previously pushed strongly for Gordon and reportedly even held positive discussions regarding personal terms.
Liverpool also monitored the winger closely as Arne Slot searched for attacking reinforcements this summer. Still, Barcelona now appear firmly ahead in the race.
Gordon enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Newcastle after scoring 17 goals across all competitions during the 2025/26 season.
