Liverpool step up interest in Bayern Munich target

Liverpool appear increasingly serious about testing that stance as the summer window progresses.

Transfer Update - Liverpool

Liverpool’s summer rebuild is beginning to accelerate after another frustrating campaign raised fresh questions about the club’s attacking options.

Arne Slot is expected to reshape several areas of the squad after a disappointing and chaotic season. The forward line especially remains under heavy focus behind the scenes.

With Mohamed Salah leaving and inconsistent performances from several attackers, Liverpool are now in the market for a new versatile forward.

Now, one Premier League star suddenly emerged as a major target at Anfield.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool sharply increased their interest in Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon during recent days.

The England international already attracted strong attention across Europe after another impressive season with Newcastle.

Bayern Munich remain heavily involved in the race and previously held talks regarding the player. Barcelona also admire Gordon, although financial limitations reportedly weakened their position.

Still, Liverpool’s growing push appears to have completely changed the dynamics of the transfer battle.

Reports claim the Reds made a strong move behind the scenes as Slot personally searches for attackers capable of fitting his aggressive tactical style.

The 25-year-old can operate across multiple attacking positions. Gordon has qualities that Liverpool value highly under Slot. There is also a deeper emotional angle surrounding the transfer.

Before emerging through Everton’s academy system, Gordon actually spent time inside Liverpool’s youth setup earlier in his career.

Newcastle, however, remain determined to resist any sale. Gordon remains under contract until 2030 and the Magpies currently hold a strong negotiating position financially.

The winger also became one of the club’s most important players after scoring 17 goals and providing five assists in 46 appearances last season.

Reports suggest Newcastle currently value him between €85 million and €90 million.

Now, with Bayern Munich also pushing strongly, one of the summer’s biggest Premier League transfer battles appears ready to explode.
