Barcelona are preparing for another major attacking addition after already agreeing a deal for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
The La Liga champions remain extremely active in the transfer market as Hansi Flick continues reshaping the squad ahead of next season.
The Catalan giants are now focusing on strengthening the centre-forward position following Robert Lewandowski’s departure as a free agent.
Several names have been linked with Barcelona in recent months. However, the club appear determined to sign a player who perfectly fits Flick’s tactical system.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also searching for attacking reinforcements this summer. Mikel Arteta wants to add more firepower to the squad after securing the Premier League title.
The North London club have closely monitored one particular forward for several months. However, Arsenal now appear to be falling behind in the race.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Julian Alvarez wants to join Barcelona this summer and has already informed Atletico Madrid about his desire to leave the club.
The report adds that Barcelona have already sent their first offer worth around €100 million for the Argentine international.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are reluctant to lose Alvarez. The Spanish club signed him from Manchester City in 2024 in a deal worth up to €95 million.
The striker still has a contract until 2030, and Atletico reportedly want a fee higher than the €100 million Barcelona are currently offering.
Alvarez enjoyed another impressive campaign during the 2025-26 season after scoring 20 goals and registering nine assists.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona can complete the blockbuster move for Julian Alvarez in the coming weeks.
