Unwanted Manchester United set to return for pre-season

Manchester United are highly unlikely to accept such a reduced fee.

Manchester United could soon face an uncomfortable situation involving one of the club’s biggest names ahead of pre-season preparations.

The Red Devils secured Champions League football last season after finishing third in the Premier League.

So, they will have a longer list of fixtures than last season. That is why squad depth will be very important for the Red Devils.

However, there are many players who are unsettled at the club. Andre Onana spent the entire season on loan at Trabzonspor.

With Senne Lammens making his spot permanent, it is unlikely that United will continue with Onana, as they would like to sell the Cameroonian.

The same could be the fate for Altay Bayindir, who failed to impress during the run of starts he got at the time of Ruben Amorim.

Now, there are question marks over the future of another Manchester United forward.

According to The Times, Marcus Rashford could now return to Manchester United for pre-season training because Barcelona are unwilling to meet the current asking price.

The forward spent last season away from Old Trafford after the club decided he no longer formed part of the project under former manager Ruben Amorim.

A loan move to Barcelona followed, and Rashford managed to rebuild his reputation with several impressive performances under Hansi Flick.

His form in Spain also helped him secure a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Barcelona remain interested in signing the England star permanently. However, financial problems continue complicating the situation behind the scenes.

The Spanish champions have already committed major funds towards signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella also remains on their radar.

The report states that Barcelona have until June 15 to activate a £26 million option to sign Rashford permanently.

However, the Spanish club reportedly only want to offer around £13 million for the 28-year-old forward.

Manchester United are highly unlikely to accept such a reduced fee despite Rashford not appearing to fit into Michael Carrick’s plans moving forward.

However, unless Barcelona significantly change their position, the forward could soon find himself returning to Manchester United for pre-season training.
