Tottenham Hotspur are once again looking at attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season as Roberto De Zerbi prepares for his first full campaign in North London.
The club continue searching for another high-profile winger after missing out on several attacking targets over the last year.
De Zerbi understands that a club of the stature of the Spurs cannot be in the relegation battle this season as well. The Italian would like to secure European football in the following season.
For that, he needs to have attacking reinforcements capable of breaking defences down. Now, one player has now re-emerged on their shortlist after Manchester City softened their stance on his future.
According to Globo Esporte, Tottenham Hotspur have now opened talks with Manchester City regarding a move for Brazilian winger Savinho.
Last year, the Spurs attempted to sign the Brazilian attacker before he committed his long-term future to Manchester City.
At that time, Pep Guardiola reportedly blocked the move because he still viewed Savinho as part of his plans at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City also rejected an offer worth around £59 million (€70 million) during those discussions. However, the situation has changed significantly over the last few months.
The winger struggled to fully establish himself during the campaign after registering four goals and two assists in 35 appearances.
Injuries also disrupted his momentum throughout the season. The report states that the initial discussions involved a permanent transfer, although negotiations remain at an early stage.
Manchester City are reportedly now willing to listen to offers between £42 million and £50 million for the attacker.
The club want to recover a significant part of their investment while the player still retains strong market value.
Tottenham previously explored a move for Savinho in October before the Brazilian eventually signed a new contract running until 2031.
