Tottenham Hotspur are once again searching for major attacking reinforcements after narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of the Premier League season.
Spurs endured a disastrous campaign filled with injuries, inconsistent performances and failed transfer plans.
The club only secured survival after beating Everton 1-0 while West Ham’s relegation ultimately saved them from dropping into the Championship.
That chaotic season exposed serious weaknesses in Tottenham’s squad, especially in wide attacking areas. Several injuries completely destroyed the club’s depth during crucial periods of the campaign.
Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons both suffered ACL injuries, while Dejan Kulusevski missed the entire season. Meanwhile, January signing attempts also failed badly for Spurs.
The club missed out on Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo after Manchester City eventually signed him instead.
Now, Tottenham appear ready to revisit another target they unsuccessfully pursued last summer. According to The Daily Mail, Spurs reignited interest in Manchester City winger Savinho.
Tottenham originally tried to sign the Brazilian before Pep Guardiola personally convinced him to remain at the Etihad. Savinho later signed a new contract until 2031 in October.
However, despite the long-term deal, the winger struggled for regular starts during the second half of the season.
The 22-year-old reportedly started only nine matches since November after Semenyo’s arrival pushed him further down the pecking order.
That situation reopened the possibility of a transfer this summer. Incoming Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca still wants to assess Savinho personally before making any final decision.
Newcastle United also reportedly continue monitoring the situation, especially with uncertainty surrounding Anthony Gordon’s future.
Tottenham believe Savinho could finally solve their long-standing problems out wide after a year filled with failed moves and attacking struggles.
