One way or other, Manchester United will be keen to get one player’s future sorted.

Manchester United endured a difficult season in 2024/25.

A 15th place league finish along with a Europa League final defeat is easily their worst campaign of the Premier League era.

Only four teams scored less goals than United in 2024/25 (44) and they have already gone out to try and address this issue.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha made the move to Manchester this summer, arriving for a fee of £62.5 million.

They have also been linked with a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, although Tottenham Hotspur and new manager Thomas Frank appear to be hijacking that transfer.

Viktor Gyökeres has also been heavily linked with a transfer to Old Trafford.

However, unlike the blue half of Manchester, United have been slow to make many transfers.

There have been more outgoings than incomings.

Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelöf have all departed after their contracts ended, Evans retiring after a lengthy career.

Star midfielder Bruno Fernandes was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but rejected a move to Al-Hilal.

There has also been increased rumblings of Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho leaving Manchester after issues off the field.

United will also be keen to determine what the future holds for one of their own.

Manchester born Marcus Rashford spent the second half of the 2024/25 season out on loan at Aston Villa.

In 17 games across all competitions for Villa, he scored four goals and recorded six assists.

There have been plenty of problems for Rashford in Manchester over the past 18 months.

It appears Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag back in November, does not see Rashford in his future plans.

He dropped Rashford from the starting lineup before eventually sanctioning the loan move to Villa Park.

There are no signs that Rashford will be plying his trade in Manchester next season.

It has been reported that United have offered Rashford to Spanish giants Real Madrid. This is despite being linked to Barcelona.

Madrid already possess attacking options at the club such as Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior.

Even of Rodrygo leaves the club, it is hard to see where Rashford would fit into their starting attack.

However, a place on the bench would not be beyond the realms of possibility.

Being able to play alongside international teammates such as Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold would appeal to Rashford and help the bedding in process.

Rashford is not suddenly a bad player overnight. He has done enough in his career to show the talent is there.

He showed glimpses of his abilities during his Villa loan spell and would surely find an extra gear wearing the white of Madrid.
