Liverpool and Arsenal set to battle for Bradley Barcola

Liverpool and Arsenal enter race for Barcola as PSG open the door following player’s exit request.

Some players reach a turning point and their whole trajectory changes.

For Bradley Barcola, it came in Budapest.

A Champions League final. T

he biggest stage in club football.

He came on as a late substitute.

And in that moment, something shifted.

Liverpool and Arsenal enter race for Barcola as PSG open the door following player’s exit request

According to L’Equipe, there is a growing feeling inside PSG that Barcola could leave this summer, with the club “not entirely opposed to a sale” and no progress having been made on a new contract after months of talks.

Since then, Barcola has formally requested an exit, informing the French champions that he wants to leave.

The reason is straightforward.

Ousmane Dembele. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Desire Doue.

Three players have pushed ahead of Barcola in Luis Enrique’s attacking hierarchy.

For a 23-year-old who joined from Lyon in 2023 expecting to be central to PSG’s biggest moments, making 21 Ligue 1 starts simply isn’t enough.

He believes he has earned more.

And he’s not prepared to wait indefinitely to find out if it ever arrives.

PSG value him at approximately £100 million.

However, his contract runs until 2028, giving them leverage.

But a player who has formally requested a transfer is a very different negotiating position to one who is reluctantly available.

And this time, the door is open.

Liverpool are equally interested.

Andoni Iraola’s side are searching for at least one starting-calibre winger following Mohamed Salah’s departure.

And Barcola, who can operate on the left, right or even centrally, fits the attacking profile they’re targeting.

Any deal would only develop later in the summer, with Barcola currently representing France in North America, and PSG’s stance likely to soften further only if they bring in a replacement winger first.

The path isn’t clear yet.

But the player has spoken.

And two of England’s biggest clubs are now ready to move when the moment arrives.
