Thiago Silva has enjoyed one of the most remarkable careers in modern football.

The veteran defender overcame major challenges early in his career before establishing himself as one of the best center-backs of his generation.

After beginning his professional journey in Europe, Silva returned to Brazil to rebuild his career with Fluminense following a serious battle with tuberculosis.

His performances quickly attracted attention and earned him a move back to Europe.

The Brazilian went on to achieve huge success during spells with AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.

Along the way, he won major trophies and became a key figure for both club and country. Silva also enjoyed a distinguished international career with Brazil.

He earned 113 caps for the Brazil national team. Silva captained the Selecao at multiple World Cups and lifted both the Confederations Cup and Copa America.

Following his departure from Chelsea in 2024, Silva returned to Fluminense before spending the first half of 2026 with FC Porto. The defender made 14 appearances for the Portuguese club and helped them win the league title.

However, Fluminense have now confirmed that Thiago Silva has officially returned to the club after signing a contract until December 2026. In an official statement, the Brazilian club said:

“What seemed like a goodbye was, in fact, a see you later. Because some stories never truly end. Thiago Silva is back at Fluminense. The ‘Monster’ has agreed to return and signed a contract with the club until December 2026.”

The 41-year-old is expected to report to the Carlos Castilho Training Center next week and begin training with his teammates.

The move marks his fourth spell at Fluminense and his third stint with the club’s professional team. Silva has already made 212 appearances and scored 19 goals for Fluminense.

During his first spell, he won the 2007 Copa do Brasil and helped the club reach the 2008 Copa Libertadores final.

He later returned in 2024 and captained Fluminense during their run to the semi-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
