Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during the summer transfer window.
Roberto De Zerbi has already welcomed several new arrivals as Spurs continue rebuilding a squad capable of challenging for major honours next season.
However, the North London club have no intention of slowing down. There is another winger sitting high on De Zerbi’s list of priorities before the new campaign begins.
Although several names have appeared on their shortlist, one high-profile Premier League star continues to attract serious interest.
A deal would require a major financial commitment. Nevertheless, Tottenham appear willing to make that sacrifice if it secures one of England’s most recognisable forwards.
According to The Sun, Hotspur Tottenham are prepared to match Marcus Rashford‘s wage demands of £325,000 per week in an attempt to bring the Manchester United winger to North London.
The report states Rashford’s salary at United will increase to that figure next month. Despite the enormous wages involved, Tottenham reportedly remain willing to meet those demands.
Spurs have already shown interest in Rashford after his loan spell at Barcelona ended.
The England international enjoyed an impressive season in Spain, scoring 14 goals and registering 14 assists in 49 appearances while helping Barcelona win La Liga.
Manchester United are understood to value Rashford at £40 million. Also, the winger’s contract reportedly includes a release clause at that price.
Moreover, the clause does not apply to Liverpool or Manchester City, although Tottenham can activate it if they choose.
Despite the Spurs’ willingness to invest heavily, Rashford still prefers a return to Barcelona. However, the Catalan giants do not want to meet Manchester United’s £40 million asking price.
The Spanish champions reportedly value Rashford closer to £25-30 million and would prefer another loan before making the transfer permanent.
