Marcus Rashford‘s future at Manchester United remains one of the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window.
The England international spent last season on loan at Barcelona after falling out of favour under former manager Ruben Amorim.
His move to Spain helped revive his career as he rediscovered his best form. Rashford finished the campaign with 14 goals and 14 assists in all competitions.
He also scored a decisive free-kick in El Clasico as Barcelona secured the La Liga title. The forward has made no secret of his desire to continue at the Spotify Camp Nou.
However, completing a permanent move has proven far from straightforward. Barcelona allowed their €30 million buy option to expire before signing Anthony Gordon in a £70 million deal.
Financial restrictions also mean the Spanish champions are unwilling to match Manchester United’s valuation or take on Rashford’s salary. The La Liga side would prefer another loan agreement.
Manchester United, however, want a permanent transfer instead. Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an important update on Rashford’s situation.
According to Romano, Manchester United recently held direct and amicable talks with Rashford’s camp to clarify the club’s position ahead of the new season.
The report states that United are open to welcoming the forward back for pre-season training under Michael Carrick.
Romano also adds that Rashford is willing to return and begin preparations for the new campaign with the rest of the squad.
However, the discussions do not guarantee that he will remain at Old Trafford. Manchester United are still prepared to consider offers if suitable bids arrive later in the transfer window.
