Barcelona enjoyed another successful domestic campaign under Hansi Flick in 2025-26. The Catalan giants retained La Liga and also lifted the Spanish Super Cup.
However, the Catalan giants have remained careful in the transfer market this summer. The club continue to work within their financial limitations.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are continuing their squad rebuild after a transitional season. The Spanish giants have already completed much of their incoming business.
Paris Saint-Germain are also reshaping their squad for the future. The French champions want more quality and depth across the team.
Arsenal, though, have little interest in weakening their own squad. Mikel Arteta views the core of his team as untouchable this summer.
William Saliba has become particularly important to Arsenal’s project in recent years. His partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes has helped transform the club’s defence.
The French international also carried that form onto the international stage. He became a key figure for France during the World Cup.
According to CaughtOffside, Barcelona are monitoring William Saliba, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also tracking the Arsenal defender.
However, Arsenal are unwilling to even consider negotiations at this stage. The Gunners will only listen to offers worth around €150 million.
The club strengthened their position when Saliba signed a new long-term contract running until 2030.
That removes any immediate pressure on Arsenal to sell. It also gives them full control over the situation.
Barcelona’s interest makes sense from a football perspective. The club want a long-term leader in defence.
However, the financial side of such a deal remains complicated. A €150 million move for a defender would be difficult to complete.
Real Madrid and PSG may have greater flexibility in the market. Even so, Arsenal’s valuation appears designed to discourage all interest.
The Gunners consider Saliba one of the pillars of their long-term project. Therefore, it would likely take an extraordinary offer to change their stance.
