Manchester United set to make £20M offer for midfielder

Carrick continues to assess attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Manchester United completed one of the biggest recoveries in the Premier League last season.

After finishing 15th a year earlier, the club climbed to third place and secured a return to the Champions League.

The campaign started in difficult fashion under Ruben Amorim and inconsistency threatened to derail another season. However, everything changed after Michael Carrick arrived in January.

The former midfielder transformed United’s fortunes and eventually earned a contract extension until 2028.

Carrick has wasted little time reshaping his squad ahead of the club’s return to European football.

United responded by agreeing a £50 million deal with Chelsea for Andrey Santos and a £35 million move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

However, recent developments in the market have forced Manchester United to explore alternative options.

The club missed out on Mateus Fernandes after refusing to match Tottenham’s valuation for the midfielder.

According to United in Focus, Manchester United are now preparing a £20 million offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Mateus Mane.

The report states that Liverpool have also entered the race for the 18-year-old following his breakthrough season.

Despite Wolves suffering relegation, the Portuguese midfielder emerged as one of the club’s standout performers.

Wolves want around £35 million for the teenager as they look to retain him and push for an immediate Premier League return.

Meanwhile, Carrick continues to assess attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Recent reports have linked Manchester United with Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey after his impressive World Cup campaign with the Netherlands.
