Manchester United have been looking for a left-back all summer.
The Hall pursuit has been public knowledge for weeks.
And now, with a significant bid set to land at Newcastle United’s door imminently, the transfer is finally entering its decisive phase.
Manchester United set to submit hefty bid for Lewis Hall as Newcastle left-back eyes Old Trafford switch
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are preparing an imminent bid for Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, with the 22-year-old understood to be keen on a move to Old Trafford as Michael Carrick’s side push to solve their left-back problem before the window closes.
Hall’s attraction to the United project is genuine.
Champions League football.
A bigger platform.
And a manager who has made clear he values his profile within the system he’s building.
Those factors have weighed significantly in Hall’s thinking as he considers whether to push for a departure from St James’ Park.
Newcastle will not let him go without a fight.
They paid Chelsea £28 million for Hall in 2024, and having watched him develop considerably in the two seasons since, their valuation sits considerably higher than that.
Manchester United are aware of the asking price.
The bid being prepared reflects the level Newcastle expect.
Crucially, TEAMtalk’s exclusive also reveals a backup option if the Hall deal falls through.
Carrick’s side have identified Deportivo La Coruna’s Jorge Salinas as a plan B.
A 20-year-old Spanish full-back who can operate at both left-back and right-back, and who represents a considerably cheaper alternative at the position.
Salinas has attracted attention from multiple clubs across Europe after a standout season in Spain.
But United have him on their radar as insurance should Newcastle prove too difficult to deal with.
For now, Hall is the priority.
And with United having already addressed central midfield, the left-back spot represents the final structural gap that needs to be filled before the new season begins.
The bid is coming.
Newcastle will have to make a decision.
And if they hold firm, Salinas is already waiting in the wings.
