Manchester United find Lewis Hall alternative from Bundesliga

Lewis Hall is admired at Old Trafford, but Newcastle United have little financial reason to sell after several major departures.

Manchester United enter the new season with renewed confidence after finishing third in the Premier League last term.

Michael Carrick transformed their campaign after replacing Ruben Amorim in January. United won 12 of their final 17 matches and secured Champions League qualification.

Bruno Fernandes also enjoyed an outstanding season, registering a Premier League-record 21 assists. Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko all reached double figures for goals.

United have strengthened again this summer. Youri Tielemans arrived from Aston Villa after the club triggered his £35 million release clause.

Andrey Santos also joined from Chelsea for £48 million, while Karl Darlow added experienced goalkeeping depth.

Several senior players have left. Casemiro joined Inter Miami, while Rasmus Hojlund completed a permanent switch to Napoli. Radek Vitek and Altay Bayindir also departed.

Carrick’s side have produced encouraging pre-season performances. United followed defeat against Wrexham with a 5-0 victory over Rosenborg.

They then beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 before drawing 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg. Left-back remains another position United could strengthen.

Lewis Hall is admired at Old Trafford, but Newcastle United have little financial reason to sell after several major departures.

According to The Athletic, David Raum has emerged as one Bundesliga option United could consider if a move for Hall proves impossible.

The RB Leipzig captain enjoyed an excellent creative season. Raum ranked fifth across Europe’s top five leagues for chances created, producing 3.4 opportunities per match.

The 28-year-old also attempted 3.6 open-play crosses per 90 minutes. His left-footed delivery could suit Sesko particularly well, with the pair previously combining effectively at Leipzig.

Raum also brings strong athleticism and experience. However, Leipzig’s €140 million sale of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid has reduced their need to raise funds.

United are considering several other alternatives, including Juan Miranda, Quentin Merlin and Antonee Robinson.

For now, Hall remains the preferred target. But if Newcastle refuse to negotiate, Raum could offer Carrick an experienced and energetic solution on the left.
