Arsenal set Martin Zubimendi asking price

Arsenal have now set the asking price for Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal have now set the asking price for Martin Zubimendi as Mikel Arteta continues reshaping his squad this summer.

The Gunners enter the new campaign as Premier League champions after ending their 22-year wait for the title.

They also reached the Champions League final but lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

Arsenal have strengthened again this summer. Bruno Guimaraes arrived from Newcastle United for £75 million to add another major option in midfield.

Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier have also joined Arteta’s squad. Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior have departed.

Guimaraes’ arrival has increased competition in midfield. It has also created uncertainty around another player despite his important role last season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal have set a minimum asking price of €90 million (£78 million) for Martin Zubimendi.

Real Madrid and Chelsea are monitoring the Spain international’s situation. Madrid previously tried to sign him before Arsenal secured his signature from Real Sociedad last summer.

Chelsea could also join the race because Xabi Alonso admires the 27-year-old. Alonso previously worked with Zubimendi at Real Sociedad.

Arsenal paid around £60 million for the midfielder and handed him a five-year contract. Therefore, a £78 million sale would deliver a significant profit after only one season.

Zubimendi established himself as an important part of Arteta’s midfield before a knee injury disrupted his campaign. He still made 38 Premier League appearances and scored five goals.

He later helped Spain win the 2026 World Cup. Zubimendi came off the bench during extra time in their 1-0 final victory over Argentina.

However, Arsenal have not indicated that they want to sell him. Arteta now has Zubimendi, Guimaraes, Declan Rice and Mikel Merino among his midfield options.

Arsenal have endured mixed pre-season results so far. After wins over MK Dons and Girona, they lost against Real Betis and Borussia Dortmund.

The Gunners next face Como before meeting Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 16.
