Marcus Rashford set to revive career at Manchester United

Having left for Barcelona, Marcus Rashford is set to revive his Manchester United career.

Some stories feel like they belong to the past.

A falling out.

A frozen exile.

Loan spells abroad that felt more like escapes than solutions.

But football has a way of rewriting what seemed final.

Marcus Rashford walked back through the doors at Carrington on Sunday.

After nearly two years, one of Manchester United’s most celebrated academy graduates is home.

Marcus Rashford returns to Manchester United training as Michael Carrick confirms he will join full squad

According to The Sun, Rashford has returned to Carrington and is set to join the rest of the Manchester United squad at their pre-season training camp in Dublin, where Michael Carrick is preparing a fresh start for the 28-year-old after one of the most turbulent chapters of his career.

Carrick is not a manager who views Rashford as a problem to manage.

He’s a manager who sees a player worth fighting for.

Rashford’s last competitive appearance for Manchester United came on December 12, 2024.

A Europa League game against Viktoria Plzen where he was substituted off on 56 minutes by Ruben Amorim and never returned to the squad.

Loan spells at Aston Villa and then Barcelona followed, the latter producing 14 goals including a crucial strike in Barça’s title-sealing victory over Real Madrid.

Barcelona chose not to activate their purchase option.

A £40 million release clause expired without a buyer.

And so Rashford, England’s World Cup third-place finisher, a player who scored twice in the tournament and produced a strong display against France in the third place play-offs, returns.

He signed autographs, even posed for photographs.

A player not hiding from the moment.

The Dublin fixture against Leeds on Wednesday will be the first opportunity to see him in a United shirt in nearly two years.

Then comes a potential reunion with Amorim in Poland, United facing AC Milan the same Saturday.

The next chapter has started.
