Manchester United are not slowing down this summer. After landing Matheus Cunha from Wolves, the club has turned its attention to boosting the flanks.
The aim is to bring in more pace, creativity, and goals. And they have set their sights on a Premier League star who fits the profile perfectly.
The player in question had a brilliant season. He scored goals. He made assists. And he did it all with consistency and flair.
Whether on the right or occasionally through the centre, Bryan Mbeumo made his mark every week.
Naturally, this caught the eyes of many clubs. But it is United who are pushing the hardest.
The first bid came earlier this month. It was worth around £55 million. Brentford, though, rejected it.
Then came a second offer; this time, just above £60 million. Once again, the response from the London club was the same.
Talks between Manchester United and Brentford have not stopped. Negotiations are still ongoing as both sides try to find a middle ground.
Mbeumo, for his part, wants the move. He has made that clear. Even though there is interest from Tottenham Hotspur, his heart is set on Old Trafford.
For Ruben Amorim, who has already added Cunha, this would be another strong attacking option.
So far, the challenge has been Brentford’s firm stance. They know the player is valuable, especially after a season where he contributed 20 goals and eight assists.
He is entering the last year of his deal, but Brentford have the option to extend it by a year, which gives them added leverage. The clock is ticking, though.
Manchester Evening News has revealed that Manchester United want everything done and dusted before July 7, the day pre-season begins at Carrington.
They want Bryan Mbeumo ready from day one. The final stretch of this Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United saga could be just around the corner.
