Barcelona enjoyed another successful season under Hansi Flick, winning their 29th La Liga title after an impressive domestic campaign.
The Catalan giants also lifted the Supercopa de Espana after beating Real Madrid 2-0, although their Champions League campaign ended against Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona have remained ambitious during the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen Flick’s squad before defending their league crown.
Anthony Gordon joined from Newcastle United for €70 million, while Karim Adeyemi arrived from Borussia Dortmund for €22 million.
They have also reached an agreement in principle to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who is expected to complete a €70 million move imminently.
However, Barcelona still need a new centre-forward following Robert Lewandowski’s departure on a free transfer this summer.
Julian Alvarez remains their priority target, but Atletico Madrid have repeatedly rejected attempts to prise the Argentine away.
According to El Chiringuito (via Sport), Barcelona now want to sign Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres after completing their move for Rodri.
The Catalans are preparing an offer for the Sweden international and could submit their proposal in the coming hours.
Barcelona view Gyokeres as another option after their difficulties in signing Alvarez. Meanwhile, they are also looking at Lautaro Martinez and Luis Suarez.
Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP for €70 million in 2025 and enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in North London.
The 28-year-old scored 21 goals last season and established himself as an important part of Mikel Arteta’s attack. However, Arsenal are not considering selling Gyokeres despite Barcelona’s interest.
The Gunners also rejected the possibility of including him in a potential deal for Alvarez earlier this summer.
There has been no indication that Arsenal’s position has changed since then, particularly with the Premier League season approaching.
Therefore, Barcelona may be ready to test Arsenal’s resolve. But the Premier League champions currently have no intention of allowing Gyokeres to leave.
