Arsenal finally make Ethan Nwaneri transfer decision

Arsenal have decided how they want to handle Ethan Nwaneri’s future.

Arsenal face several important squad decisions after strengthening Mikel Arteta’s options during the summer transfer window.

The Premier League champions have already added Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier to Arteta’s squad.

They also made Piero Hincapie’s move permanent after the defender previously joined Arsenal on loan from Bayer Leverkusen.

Those additions followed a memorable campaign in which Arsenal finally ended their 22-year wait for another Premier League title.

Arteta’s team also reached the Champions League final before losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

However, increased competition for places has left Arsenal considering the best development path for some of their younger players.

Ethan Nwaneri finds himself among them after spending the second half of last season away from the Emirates Stadium.

The teenager joined Marseille in January after making only six Premier League appearances during the opening months of the campaign.

Nwaneri subsequently registered two goals and one assist from nine league appearances during his loan spell in France.

His future attracted further attention after Arteta omitted him from the squad that defeated Manchester City in the Community Shield.

According to BBC Sport, Arsenal have now decided to prioritise loan proposals for Ethan Nwaneri rather than pursue a permanent sale.

The club believe another loan move could provide the regular senior football that may prove difficult to secure under Arteta this season.

Nevertheless, Arsenal could reassess their position if they receive a proposal significantly exceeding their valuation of the attacking midfielder.

Several clubs have already expressed interest, leaving Nwaneri with potential options in England and elsewhere in Europe.

AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Fulham are among the teams currently interested in securing his services.

Arsenal therefore favour another loan for Nwaneri while retaining control over the long-term future of their academy graduate.
