Aston Villa have continued reshaping their squad after a summer of major changes at Villa Park.
Unai Emery guided Villa through an historic 2025-26 campaign, which ended with two significant achievements.
Villa defeated Freiburg to win the Europa League and also finished fourth in the Premier League.
Their league position secured Champions League football, but financial pressures have heavily influenced their summer business.
Villa sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117 million and Youri Tielemans joined Manchester United.
Lucas Digne also moved to Paris Saint-Germain, while Ezri Konsa completed a £51 million transfer to Arsenal.
Emery has responded by adding several players as Villa prepare for another demanding campaign.
Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Zion Suzuki arrived permanently, while Alejandro Garnacho joined on loan from Chelsea.
Villa have now strengthened their defensive options with another experienced Premier League player.
Aston Villa have now officially announced that the club have signed former Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham United.
The 28-year-old has joined Villa on a season-long loan that includes a conditional obligation to buy.
Wan-Bissaka spent the previous two seasons with West Ham after leaving Manchester United in 2024.
He made 25 Premier League appearances last season and registered two assists as West Ham suffered relegation.
The right-back also represented DR Congo at the 2026 World Cup after switching his international allegiance.
Wan-Bissaka started all four matches as DR Congo reached the Round of 32 during the tournament.
His move gives Emery additional experience ahead of Villa’s return to Champions League competition.
Wan-Bissaka previously spent five seasons at Manchester United after joining them from Crystal Palace in 2019.
He made nearly 200 appearances during his Old Trafford career and won both the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
Villa have now handed him an immediate route back into the Premier League following West Ham’s relegation.
The club will begin their new league campaign away against Brighton on August 23, with Emery continuing to rebuild his squad after several major departures.
