Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur offered chance to sign Premier League striker

Both Premier League clubs have now been presented with another potential attacking option before the window closes.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur could both make further additions before the September 1 transfer deadline.

United started their Premier League campaign with a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to newly promoted Hull City.

However, United have remained active in the transfer market after completing a major overhaul of their midfield options.

They signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa earlier during the summer transfer window.

United have also agreed a £70 million fee with Brighton for Carlos Baleba, who has already undergone his medical.

Tottenham also suffered a difficult opening weekend despite enjoying an unbeaten preseason campaign under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs lost 3-0 away to Brentford, while injuries to Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro affected their preparations.

The London club have responded by pushing ahead with an aggressive late-window rebuild involving several expensive additions.

Tottenham have already signed Sandro Tonali for £100m and Mateus Fernandes for £85m during the summer window.

They are also close to completing moves for Manchester City duo Savinho and Omar Marmoush before the deadline.

However, both Premier League clubs have now been presented with another potential attacking option before the window closes.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United and Tottenham have the chance to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The 29-year-old has been looking to leave Palace for much of the last 12 months and nearly departed in January.

Proposed moves to AC Milan and Juventus collapsed at that time because of an issue involving his knee.

Mateta has since challenged the validity of the final 10 months of his Palace contract after the club activated an additional year.

His representatives are now actively working to secure a move before the September 1 transfer deadline.

United could consider Mateta if Marcus Rashford or Joshua Zirkzee leave before the end of the window.

Tottenham have also been contacted and retain long-term admiration for Mateta despite their ongoing attacking transfer business.

However, Crystal Palace remain determined to keep him and do not want to sanction a sale this summer.
