Manchester United set to rival Galatasaray for £50M Crystal Palace star

Manchester United are also keeping an eye on another possible Premier League addition.

Manchester United endured a difficult start to the 2026/27 campaign after producing mixed results during their European preseason schedule.

Michael Carrick’s side lost 1-0 to Wrexham before responding with victories over Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid.

However, United ended their preparations with a 4-2 defeat against AC Milan after struggling defensively throughout the summer.

Those problems continued in their Premier League opener, where newly promoted Hull City secured a surprising 2-0 victory.

United conceded twice from first-half set-pieces and also lacked cutting edge in attack during a disappointing opening performance.

Meanwhile, the club have focused heavily on rebuilding their midfield following Casemiro’s departure during the summer transfer window.

United signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for a combined fee approaching €100 million.

They then agreed a £70 million deal with Brighton for Carlos Baleba, who will undergo a medical.

Carrick’s recruitment team has also explored moves for Alejandro Balde and Lewis Hall to strengthen the left-back position.

However, Manchester United are also keeping an eye on another possible Premier League addition before the transfer window closes.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are monitoring Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr as Galatasaray continue pushing to sign him.

Galatasaray have already offered Sarr a contract, and his representatives have agreed to the proposed personal terms.

However, Crystal Palace want at least £50 million before they even consider allowing Sarr to leave Selhurst Park.

Intermediaries had previously suggested Galatasaray could sign him for around £30 million, but Palace quickly rejected that valuation.

TEAMtalk claims Galatasaray are currently unlikely to meet Palace’s £50 million asking price for the Senegal international.

Manchester United have retained their interest in Sarr after previously showing admiration for him earlier during the summer.

However, Palace’s valuation would also make a potential move difficult for Carrick’s side during the final days of the window.
