Manchester United make move for Eduardo Camavinga

United still want another major midfield signing before the transfer window closes.

Manchester United endured a mixed preseason under Michael Carrick before opening their Premier League campaign with a disappointing defeat.

United lost 1-0 to Wrexham before responding with victories over Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid during their European preparations.

They later drew against Paris Saint-Germain and Leeds United before AC Milan exposed defensive problems in a 4-2 defeat.

Those concerns followed United into the Premier League, where newly promoted Hull City secured a 2-0 victory on August 22.

Carrick now faces pressure to steady his squad, with Ipswich Town next at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, United have already transformed their midfield after Casemiro’s departure during a busy summer transfer window.

The club signed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba, spending a combined €173 million on three midfield additions.

However, United still want another major midfield signing before the transfer window closes.

According to Cadena SER (via SPORT), Manchester United have launched a move for Eduardo Camavinga and are preparing a €50 million offer.

Real Madrid could consider the proposal despite Jose Mourinho previously declaring his squad complete before the Real Sociedad match.

Camavinga has fallen behind in the midfield rotation after two seasons below his usual standard at Real Madrid.

Mourinho currently prefers Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Bernardo Silva for the double-pivot roles this season.

The 23-year-old also missed the 2026 World Cup after Didier Deschamps left him out of the France squad.

United reportedly still have an €80 million budget, which they intend to use on Camavinga and Alejandro Balde.

However, completing the Camavinga deal will not be straightforward because the Frenchman wants to remain at Real Madrid.

He wants to regain the prominence he has lost over the last two seasons and fight for his place.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown interest, but Camavinga reportedly remains determined to reject outside approaches.

Therefore, Manchester United have made their move, but convincing Camavinga to leave Madrid remains the biggest obstacle.
