Everton ended the summer transfer window with major changes to David Moyes’ squad and limited senior options in attack.
Beto joined Fiorentina, while Iliman Ndiaye completed a £65 million move to Manchester City on deadline day.
Nathan Patterson moved to Torino and Tim Iroegbunam joined Hull City, further reducing Everton’s available first-team numbers.
Meanwhile, the proposed €45 million signing of Folarin Balogun collapsed despite Everton reaching an agreement with Monaco.
Balogun ultimately walked away without completing the move, leaving Moyes without the striker Everton had expected to add.
Everton subsequently failed with a late attempt to loan Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United, while a move for Tammy Abraham also collapsed.
However, the Toffees did complete deals for Christian Norgaard, Hayden Hackney, Merlin Rohl, Tyrique George and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Jack Grealish also returned on another season-long loan from Manchester City, while Brennan Johnson arrived through a swap agreement.
Attention has now turned towards the free-agent market as Everton assess whether further attacking reinforcements are available.
According to TEAMtalk, former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been offered to Everton through intermediaries exploring a Premier League return.
The 30-year-old has been without a club since mutually terminating his contract with Monterrey in June.
Intermediaries have contacted several English clubs regarding Martial’s availability, with Leeds United, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Newcastle, Sunderland and Tottenham also mentioned.
However, Everton have told TEAMtalk that they have not been contacted regarding Martial, despite intermediaries suggesting otherwise.
Therefore, the approach does not currently mean Everton are actively pursuing a deal for the French forward.
Martial remains free to join a club despite the transfer window closing because he is currently a free agent.
He previously spent nine years with Manchester United after joining from Monaco in 2015.
Additionally, Martial made more than 300 appearances for United and scored 90 goals before leaving Old Trafford in 2024.
Interest has also emerged from France, Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia as Martial considers his next move.
