Arsenal enter race for former £69M-rated Real Madrid star

Tottenham Hotspur also made two unsuccessful bids for Paz during the summer.

Arsenal are already considering future additions after strengthening Mikel Arteta’s squad during the summer transfer window.

The reigning Premier League champions signed Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75 million and Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa for £55 million.

Piero Hincapie also completed a permanent move from Bayer Leverkusen, while Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge.

Arsenal also sanctioned several attacking departures. Gabriel Martinelli joined Al-Hilal for £60 million, while Gabriel Jesus moved to Barcelona and Leandro Trossard signed for Besiktas.

The Gunners have since won their opening three Premier League fixtures as they begin their title defence.

However, Arsenal continue to assess potential attacking additions after failing to complete summer moves for Julian Alvarez and Vinicius Junior.

Another player who was considered during the summer has now emerged as a possible target for 2027.

According to Bernabeu Digital, Arsenal have expressed interest in former Real Madrid attacking midfielder Nico Paz and could make a move next year.

The 22-year-old left Real Madrid for Como in August 2024 after making eight first-team appearances and scoring once for the Spanish club.

Paz has since registered 20 goals and 17 assists across 78 appearances for Como. He was also Serie A Young Player of the Year last season.

Real Madrid activated a €9 million option to re-sign Paz during the summer, but the Argentina international chose to remain at Como.

Como subsequently paid Real Madrid another €60 million to retain him. However, Madrid kept an €80 million (£69 million) buy-back clause as part of the arrangement.

That clause could complicate any Arsenal move. The report suggests Real Madrid could seek compensation to allow Arsenal to negotiate directly with Como.

Tottenham Hotspur also made two unsuccessful bids for Paz during the summer. Furthermore, Arsenal considered Paz among several attacking options during the previous transfer window.

Arsenal could now revisit their interest in 2027, although no agreement or formal negotiations have been reported.
