Manchester United will make a major change to their kit as Michael Carrick prepares for the club’s Champions League return.
United are back in Europe’s leading club competition following a three-year absence. Their league-phase campaign begins against Azerbaijani champions Sabah at Old Trafford.
Carrick’s side enter the fixture after an uneven start to the 2026/27 Premier League season. Their latest domestic outing ended in a 2-2 draw against Everton.
United also reshaped their squad during the summer, with midfield becoming a major focus of their recruitment.
Carlos Baleba arrived from Brighton for £65 million, while United paid Chelsea £48 million for Andrey Santos. Youri Tielemans also joined from Aston Villa for £35 million.
Those additions have provided Carrick with further midfield options as United prepare to balance domestic and Champions League commitments.
Their return to the competition will also feature a significant change to the team’s shirts.
The Manchester United Foundation logo will appear on the back of the men’s shirts throughout the Champions League campaign.
The Foundation was established in 2007 and works with more than 30,000 young people each year.
It delivers 129 educational and community engagement projects aimed at supporting young people across Greater Manchester and beyond.
United supporters will also have the opportunity to add the Foundation logo to new or existing shirts at the club’s Megastore.
Net profits generated through the initiative will be donated to the Foundation to support its programmes.
The change will make its first Champions League appearance when United face Sabah at Old Trafford on Thursday.
United will subsequently face Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Roma and Atletico Madrid during the league phase.
Carrick’s team will also play Como, Sporting Lisbon and Villarreal as part of their European schedule.
The Foundation logo will remain on the back of United’s shirts throughout those Champions League fixtures, providing further exposure for its community work.
