Arsenal and Manchester City have both started the 2026/27 season strongly after major changes during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners entered the campaign as defending Premier League champions and also lifted the Community Shield against City.
Mikel Arteta strengthened his squad with Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Christos Tzolis among the summer arrivals.
Arsenal paid £75 million for Guimaraes after allowing several attacking players to leave during their squad reshuffle.
Manchester City also made significant changes after Enzo Maresca took charge and Rodri completed his move to Barcelona.
City spent heavily on midfield reinforcements, including Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Despite those additions, both clubs are already monitoring another established Premier League midfielder ahead of the January window.
According to Hooligan Soccer, Arsenal and Manchester City are keeping tabs on Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White.
Chelsea and Newcastle United are also monitoring the 26-year-old as interest builds ahead of the winter transfer market.
Gibbs-White remains under contract with Forest until 2028, which leaves the club in a strong negotiating position.
Forest could nevertheless consider offers worth between €70 million and €80 million, with potential performance-related additions also possible.
The England international enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists.
His ability to operate centrally or from wider areas has made him an attractive option for several Premier League clubs.
Arsenal could view Gibbs-White as another creative option in advanced areas as Arteta continues refining his title-winning squad.
Manchester City are also watching his situation despite already signing former Forest midfielder Anderson during the summer.
No club has made a concrete approach for Gibbs-White ahead of January at this stage.
Forest therefore retain control over his immediate future, but interest from Arsenal and City could develop as the winter window approaches.
