Manchester City move officially confirmed by highly rated Arsenal midfielder

The move has been completed despite the transfer window being closed.

In the opening weeks of the new 2026/27 season, Manchester City and Arsenal are already occupying familiar positions towards the top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal entered the campaign as defending champions and had made an impressive start before suffering a surprise 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.

That result provided an early reminder that retaining the Premier League title is unlikely to be straightforward, particularly with Manchester City making a perfect start under new manager Enzo Maresca.

City have won each of their opening five league matches, collecting a maximum 15 points to establish themselves at the top of the table.

It’s still early days and there are plenty of twists and turns to come this season, but the early signs suggest that City and Arsenal could once again find themselves competing for the biggest honours in English football.

And while their battle on the pitch is only just beginning, City have now got one over on their rivals away from it by securing one of Arsenal’s highly-rated academy prospects.

Mishel Nduka has officially confirmed that he has signed for Manchester City, sharing a series of images on Instagram showing him putting pen to paper on the move.

The confirmation has been expected for some time with City having reached an agreement to sign the midfielder earlier in the summer after he decided against continuing his development at Arsenal.

Arsenal had reportedly offered Nduka competitive long-term terms in an attempt to keep him at Hale End, but the England youth international instead opted for a move to Manchester.

Just last week, Nduka appeared to signal that his time with Arsenal had come to an end when he posted a message thanking the club ahead of his next move.

Now, the 16-year-old has revealed his new colours.

Mishel Nduka shared three images to announce the move, including one of him signing his contract and another holding up a Manchester City shirt.

“𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬. 🩵 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.” was the short message accompanying the announcement.

Nduka, who turned 16 in April, is joining Manchester City on scholarship terms, with a professional contract expected to follow when he becomes eligible to sign one.

Remarkably, it’s the midfielder’s second academy move in the space of just a year.

Nduka spent eight years with Charlton Athletic before leaving the club to join Arsenal in September 2025.

Despite spending only one season in north London, he quickly progressed through the age groups, featuring for Arsenal at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 level.

His performances were evidently enough to convince Manchester City to make their move, and Nduka has now chosen the Etihad as the place to continue his development.

For the youngster, the challenge will be turning his considerable academy potential into a pathway towards senior football.

City have shown in recent years that such a route exists, with Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Nico O’Reilly all progressing through the club’s academy before establishing themselves in the first-team setup.

Mishel Nduka will now be hoping that, in time, he can add his name to that list.
