Manchester United are looking to make a statement in the transfer market.
However, so far, they have failed to do so. The main reason for that is not featuring in Europe next season.
After losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, such tough situations in the transfer market were inevitable for the Red Devils.
That is why Ruben Amorim braced himself for a situation like this. They failed to sign many of their primary targets.
One of the main reasons for that is the lack of funds. Also, players like Viktor Gyokeres outright rejected United because they wanted to play in the Champions League.
There is no doubt that Manchester United need to sell players to sign new players. However, selling underperforming players have been a struggle for United this summer.
Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan, and Jadon Sancho’s transfer to Juventus is currently stalled.
Alejandro Garnacho is still searching for a club as he wants to stay in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim wants to sign a goalkeeper as he wants to replace Andre Onana.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United wants to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG.
The Italian shotstopper appeared 47 times for the European champions last season.
The 26-year-old will become a free agent next season unless he renews his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, according to reports, Donnarumma has rejected the contract proposal of PSG. The Parisians were offering a lower salary to the former AC Milan star.
Also, in case Donnarumma doesn’t renew his contract, PSG are ready to sell him. They have already lined up his replacement in Lucas Chevalier from LOSC Lille.
This is a huge boost for Manchester United, who failed to sign Emiliano Martinez. However, United have to sell Andre Onana first.
Onana has interest from clubs in France and Saudi Arabia. The Red Devils want £35-40 million for the Cameroonian.
Once they offload Onana, Manchester United are expected to make a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma.
