Manchester United are looking to sign a midfielder after signing Benjamin Sesko. It is a well-known fact that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Transfer News Live also revealed earlier that the Red Devils are ready to send their first official bid for the Cameroonian.
However, in case Brighton don’t let the player leave, Manchester United need a backup plan as signing a midfielder is now a priority for Ruben Amorim.
As we reported earlier, Ruben Amorim is adamant that he wants to have Baleba in his squad. And, the player is also open to the move.
But Brighton will play hardball, and they are asking for a fee of around £100 million for the 21-year-old.
Now, the Red Devils are looking to sign him at a lower price. So, Brighton is expected to reject anything under the valuation they have for the player.
In that case, Manchester United will have a ceiling, and if they are open to paying what Brighton are looking for, then the Baleba deal could be done in no time.
However, if the Red Devils find a rejection, they have another midfielder in mind that could come in at a lower cost from a European giant.
According to Fichajes, Manchester United are eyeing a move for Fermin Lopez. Barcelona are expecting a fee of around €80 million from the Red Devils or any other club that wants the player.
Hansi Flick cannot guarantee that Fermin Lopez will be a starter next season. That is why to get more game time, he might look for a move elsewhere.
Also, at Manchester United, Lopez will be a key starter. But the priority for the Red Devils will be the signing of Carlos Baleba.
In case they fail to sign the Cameroonian, they will be looking to sign Fermin Lopez as a cheaper alternative for Baleba.
