Liam Delap is one of the most promising prospects in English football right now.
Although his side, Ipswich Town, got relegated, Delap was one of the shining lights of that team.
So, it was natural that he would grab the attention of top English clubs.
As his side was relegated, clubs can sign him now at a much lower price.
As reported by Ben Jacobs, Liam Delap has a release clause of £30m.
The English Under-21 is on the radar of multiple clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Everton.
Delap wants to play in the Champions League next season. However, Man Utd and Everton will not be able to offer that to the player.
Still, according to Jacobs on X, Manchester United believe that they can sign the player as they can pay the release clause.
But, it is fair to say that Delap’s release clause is not out of reach for any of the mentioned clubs above.
Now, the time has come for Liam Delap to make a decision on his future. He has set his sights on representing his country at the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
But, before that, he will go to the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with the English national team.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liam Delap wants to decide on his future this week before he leaves for the Euros.
So, this is a deadline he has set for the clubs who are looking to sign him.
With Manchester United already securing the services of Matheus Cunha, they are confident about getting this Liam Delap deal over the line as well.
Although European football will be an important factor in his decision, the Red Devils believe that it will not stop Delap from joining them.
In this context, we have to admit that Chelsea is also in the race as they can offer Champions League football.
Liam Delap wants to play regular first-team football. So, the club that can offer him that will eventually sign the player.
Liam Delap is expected to decide his future this week before heading off to the Under-21 Euros. He remains Manchester United’s top choice.
Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton have also all held talks.
