Zinedine Zidane had a historic reign as the manager of Real Madrid. During his time, the Merengues won 3 Champions League titles back-to-back.

But after his meteoric rise in management, the French legend decided to take a sabbatical from management.

Now, it seems the former Real Madrid boss is ready to begin his next journey as a manager in Europe.

Previously, in an interview with MARCA, Zindane explained his desire to take up the role with the French national team. He said:

“When the time comes, it will be a great pleasure if the opportunity arises. I’ve put my career on hold for a while, but I fully feel like a coach.”

During his sabbatical, Manchester United sacked multiple managers. And, each time, Zindane was mentioned as the frontrunner to take up the job at Old Trafford.

There was a time when reports came that Zindane was learning English to take up a Premier League role.

But it seems he is about to take up the job of a club outside the top 5 leagues in Europe. According to Turkish media Sabah, Zinedine Zidane has chosen Fenerbahce as his next destination.

Recently, Fenerbahce have sacked their manager Jose Mourinho after failing to qualify for European football. Now, they have reached an agreement with Zidane to take up the role as their manager.

The 53-year-old had two spell with the Los Blancos and he won 11 trophies as the manager.

Another outlet, Oksijen, claimed that the French manager has had a preliminary agreement with the Turkish club.

Zindane will travel to Turkey once both sides reach an agreement on the salary structure and other contract details.

It is fair to say that Zidane still wants to manage the French national team one day.

After Didier Deschamps leaves the French national side after the 2026 World Cup, Zinedine Zidane will be the favourite candidate to replace Deschamps.
