Manchester United lost the deby to their local rivals and that has made fans and the board furious. They accumulated only 4 points out of 4 Premier League games under Ruben Amorim.
The pressure is building at Old Trafford. Results have not matched the investment, and doubts over Ruben Amorim’s future are spreading fast in England.
The Portuguese coach, once seen as the man to bring stability and modern ideas to Manchester United, is now fighting to convince the board he can turn things around.
Amorim’s position has not reached breaking point yet, but the tension is clear. United know their supporters are growing restless, and every setback only adds to the scrutiny.
Behind the scenes, clubs across Europe are monitoring what might happen next with the Manchester United boss.
One of those clubs plays in the Champions League and has quietly placed Amorim on its list of potential targets.
For them, his situation in Manchester could open the door to a move that would resonate across the continent.
The Portuguese coach remains highly respected for his achievements at Sporting, where he broke Porto’s dominance and showed he could lead a project under pressure.
That reputation still carries weight, and for this Champions League side, the idea of welcoming him back home is too tempting to ignore.
According to Fichajes, Benfica are following Amorim’s situation closely, with executives leaving the door wide open for his eventual return.
Also, the current club executive, Nuno Gomes, has already hinted that one day Amorim will sit on their bench. Now, with uncertainty at Old Trafford, that possibility feels stronger than ever.
For Benfica, the move would be more than strategic. If United do make a change, Benfica are ready to act quickly. For many, it feels like destiny waiting for the right moment.
