Manchester United and Barcelona are on a potential collision course over the future of Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old is currently on loan at Camp Nou.

The England international joined Barcelona on loan during the summer window with a reported £26 million option to buy at the end of the season.

Rashford made an instant impact in the Champions League. The forward scoredtwice in a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

His standout performance has reignited speculation about a permanent switch to Camp Nou.

However, The Daily Star now claims Manchester United have changed their transfer stance on Marcus Rashford.

As per the report, the Red Devils have increased their asking price for their academy star. They now want around £35 million to sanction a full transfer.

Barcelona are said to be relying on the original £26 million agreement. The Blaugrana may not be willing to renegotiate. So, this could set up a potential stand-off between the two clubs.

Rashford wants to make his move to Spain permanent. The England star has no intention of returning to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old fell out with new manager Ruben Amorim after going public with his desire to leave the club last year.

He later joined Aston Villa on loan. Rashford contributed four goals and six assists in 17 games under Unai Emery.

Now, United could still cash in on Rashford next summer. He will have two years remaining on his contract by the end of the 2025–26 season. This allows the club to retain some leverage in negotiations.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not ready to let Rashford leave for a cut-price fee.  Thus, United are expected to demand closer to £35–40 million.

So, the two clubs need to reach an agreement. Otherwise, Rashford’s long-term future will remain uncertain.
