Barcelona are preparing early for the next summer transfer window. And one name is now at the top of their list.
The Blaugrana will be looking for attacking players next summer. They need to find a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish international could leave Barcelona next summer. Transfer News Live already reported the possible replacement the Catalan giants could target.
The club are also hoping to keep hold of a player who has impressed since arriving on loan from the Premier League.
According to reports, Barcelona want to sign Marcus Rashford permanently from Manchester United.
The English forward is not part of Manchester United’s long-term plans. His future at Old Trafford looks uncertain. Barcelona want to take advantage of the situation.
The Spanish side believed they can agree a deal for around £26 million. United, however, are asking for £35 million.
They are doing this after Rashford rediscovered his form in a stellar show against Newcastle United in the Champions League at St. James’ Park.
That price gap could complicate the deal. But Barcelona feel confident. Rashford has made a strong case for a permanent stay. The England star has enjoyed a positive spell in Spain.
The Barcelona staff are also happy with Rashford. That is why the board are ready to act as soon as possible.
Rashford’s ability to play in multiple attacking roles adds value. Barcelona believe he fits Hansi Flick’s system perfectly.
The Spanish giants are still dealing with economic limitations. A £26 million move for a proven forward would be seen as great value. The club also see him as a long-term option.
But the biggest challenge is Manchester United’s asking price. The Premier League want to sell Rashford. However, they want a proper return if he leaves.
Still, Rashford’s interest in staying might help. Barcelona know what they want. They have made their decision. The summer window could decide Marcus Rashford’s fate.
