Manchester United are expected to be active in January. The club wants to strengthen the midfield. A new target has now entered the conversation.
In the summer, Manchester United were desperate to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion. Ruben Amorim was adamant about the inclusion of the Cameroonian.
However, Brighton shut the door for any move, even after Manchester United agreed to pay over £100 million for the player. Now, they are looking at a different target in January.
According to Fichajes, the Red Devils are seriously looking at a player currently shining in La Liga.
United’s midfield has lacked stability this season. The current setup hasn’t convinced. Ruben Amorim wants more control and energy in that area.
Several United players might be leaving next summer. Casemiro could leave next summer. Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo are out of favour.
Bruno Fernandes is another name in the list of possible departures after the 2026 World Cup. With so much uncertainty, the need for fresh talent has become clear.
As per reports from Spain, Manchester United are now eyeing Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume. The 23-year-old joined from Inter Milan in 2024.
Since then, he has played 55 matches for the Spanish club, scoring twice and adding three assists. He is under contract until 2028. But interest is building.
Arsenal and Brighton are also keeping tabs on his situation. But, Manchester United are now weighing up a January move.
Agoume is valued at €30 million (£23 million). At that price, he is seen as a realistic and affordable option.
But, Manchester United will need to move quickly if they want to beat the competition. Agoume may not stay at Sevilla much longer. The next few months could decide where he ends up.
