Manchester United had a great weekend as they beat Sunderland at Old Trafford convincingly. Now, they are looking to enter a transfer battle. But this time they are up against European giants.

The Red Devils are eyeing a move for a player tipped to become the next Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez at Old Trafford.

United signed Chicharito in 2010 and played for the club till 2015. Also, he helped United win two Premier League titles and a Community Shield.

Right now, Manchester United are eyeing a 16-year-old attacking midfielder who has become the talk of Mexican football.

Recently, Gilberto Mora has made headlines in August 2024 when he became the youngest scorer in Liga MX history at just 15 years and 320 days.

So far, Mora has collected 7 goals and 2 assists in 41 appearances for Club Tijuana. Also, the youngster is shining on the international stage.

He has scored three times for Mexico U-20s at the Under-20 World Cup, showing maturity beyond his age.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United have joined Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the race.

The report claims that United have tracked him for months and are ready to make their move. The competition is fierce. Every major European club sees Mora as a future superstar.

But United believe their long-term project and history with young talents could give them an edge. For Manchester United, the story has a familiar ring.

Mora will remind United fans of Javier Hernandez who is the only Mexican player to wear the famous Red shirt till now.

Chicharito scored 59 goals in 157 games for United between 2010 and 2015, becoming a cult hero at Old Trafford. Mora now has the chance to follow that path.

If United manage to win the race for Gilberto Mora, it would be a major statement.
