Manchester United are set to take on the Premier League champions Liverpool once the international break is over.
However, the two clubs could come face-to-face in the transfer market as well for one Premier League forward.
Liverpool started the season brightly. However, the string of defeats has derailed their momentum to a certain extent.
Also, the performances of their new signings have not been up to the mark, except for Hugo Ekitike. That is why the Reds might look to bolster their attack once the transfer window opens again.
And, both Premier League giants are tracking one player. Antoine Semenyo has started the new season in top form.
The Bournemouth forward has already delivered 9 goal contributions in just 7 Premier League matches.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United are seriously considering a bid. The club now view him as a key target.
Despite rumours, their interest is said to be stronger than Liverpool’s. That could shift the situation quickly.
Liverpool wanted to sign him earlier in the window, but they spent heavily on attacking options in the summer. For now, they do not plan to add another forward in January.
This will give Manchester United a chance to sign a top attacker. The 25-year-old will not come cheap.
Bournemouth’s price will likely be higher than it was during the last window. CaughtOffisde claims United now see the deal as worth the cost.
They believe Semenyo would improve the attack immediately. Given the current form of Matheus Cunha, that is hard to argue.
Cunha has struggled to settle since joining from Wolves. However, Semenyo has been a driving force for Bournemouth.
Manchester United also have one disadvantage. They are not playing in Europe this season. That could affect Semenyo’s decision if more offers arrive.
