After selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, Newcastle United have struggled to find success up front.
Though his replacement, Nick Woltemade, did score a few, he has yet to prove himself as the ideal heir to Isak at St. James’ Park.
Now, Isak was not the only forward to leave St. James’ Park this summer. Callum Wilson also left the club after his contract expired.
Wilson joined West Ham United, who are struggling in the relegation zone so far this season. Also, they have changed their manager.
So, Newcastle needed to bring in another striker. That is why they swooped in and signed the Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.
However, the 29-year-old is yet to make an appearance in a Newcastle shirt as he is recovering from a knee injury. That is why Eddie Howe knows that he needs to add another striker to his squad.
The Magpies will have a long season as they are playing in the Champions League as well as the Carabao Cup, the Premier League, and the FA Cup.
If they go deep in all these competitions, they need to have squad depth. That is why they have found a striker who can bring in goals up front.
According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth.
The Colchoneros value the Norwegian at around €50 million. The 29-year-old has played 7 La Liga games this season for Diego Simeone’s side and scored twice.
Eddie Howe believes that signing Sorloth will boost his frontline and bring in more goals. Nick Woltemade has shown what he can do when he gets the chance up top.
However, adding someone like Sorloth can surely bring back the memories of the Alexander who used to reign supreme at St. James’ Park.
