Inter Milan have joined the chase for one of the Premier League’s most sought-after players.

The Italian giants are now exploring the possibility of signing a defender who is attracting attention from European heavyweights.

Liverpool is one of the clubs that are looking for a centre-back. They lack depth in defence. After injuries to Ibrahima Konate and Giovanni Leoni, the Red find themselves in a precarious situation.

Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are the two first-choice centre-backs left in the squad. That is why they might be tempted to move for a centre-back in January.

Marc Guehi came close to securing a high-profile move to Liverpool during the summer.

However, the deal collapsed on the final day of the transfer window, keeping the 25-year-old at Selhurst Park for at least one more season. Liverpool are monitoring his situation closely, but they are not alone.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all looking to sign the England international. His contract will expire at the end of the season.

According to Tuttosport, Inter Milan are the latest side to join the race. The Serie A champions are assessing their defensive options ahead of next summer.

Both Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi could leave on free transfers if they do not sign a new deal.

Interestingly, Palace previously wanted Inter defender Yann Aurel Bisseck as a potential replacement for Guehi. So, Inter could revisit the idea of a Bisseck-Guehi swap deal in January.

If that proposal does not materialise, the Nerazzurri will have to battle Liverpool and others for Guehi.

Thus, Inter could have an edge in this transfer battle for Marc Guehi in January. But, if they wait till next summer, the England defender might choose a different route.
