Crystal Palace make Marc Guehi stance clear amid Liverpool links

But with Barcelona and Real Madrid circling, time could be running out for the Reds.

Liverpool may not get a clear run at their top defensive target. The January window is still months away. However, the race has already started.

Talk around Marc Guehi has not slowed during the international break. The Crystal Palace defender remains a key name on the list of transfer targets for many clubs.

Guehi almost joined Liverpool on deadline day this summer. That deal fell through at the last moment.

Many assumed the Reds would simply wait for a free transfer next year. But that is no longer a safe plan. According to Sky Sports News, the situation has changed.

Guehi is now attracting attention from Spain. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have re-entered the picture. That gives them a major edge.

Because Guehi can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January, the Spanish giants are free to approach him directly.

Palace would still prefer a fee. But they now face losing him for nothing. So, the Premier League side must decide quickly.

Bayern Munich are also eyeing a move for Marc Guehi. Real Madrid recently signed Trent Alexander-Arnold after he let his contract run down.

Kylian Mbappe also joined them on a free. Barcelona brought in Marcus Rashford on loan and have pulled big names from Liverpool before, including Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho.

If Guehi is given that choice, Liverpool may not be able to compete. But they need a central defender desperately.

The Reds have only kept two clean sheets in seven league games. They have already conceded nine goals. Virgil van Dijk is still reliable.

But Ibrahima Konate suffered an injury against Chelsea. Giovanni Leoni is out for the season. Joe Gomez is now the only fit centre-back.

If one more defender suffers an injury, Arne Slot might have to use Ryan Gravenberch at the back. Liverpool need a centre-back in January, and Guehi is their top choice.

Now, Crystal Palace are open to serious bids. But with Barcelona and Real Madrid circling, time could be running out for the Reds.
