Sometimes, fate changes in a single moment. Earlier this year, a serious crash on the M27 motorway turned a quiet drive into a nightmare.
A former footballer was standing on the hard shoulder, checking a flat tyre, when tragedy struck.
The incident happened on February 1. The former Bournemouth player was returning home with his physio, Reighan Taylor.
They had just finished a match for Hampshire side Bashley FC. A speeding vehicle lost control and hit the player.
The impact was devastating. He was immediately rushed to hospital, where doctors placed him in an induced coma.
Over the next few days, his condition became critical. When Jordan Chiedozie finally woke up, his life had changed forever.
Chiedozie had lost one of his legs. Multiple bones were broken, and the physical pain was immense. Yet, his words later reflected courage rather than despair. The footballer said (via The Sun):
“I think you just have to stay positive, you just have to get on with it. If you stay too much thinking of what happened and the past, I do not think it helps with recovery.”
The driver involved was Anna Bogusiewicz. The 45-year-old has now been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.
The former footballer, Jordan Chiedozie, has begun his long journey to recovery. Now 31, he is learning to walk again using a prosthetic leg.
Chiedozie once wore the Bournemouth shirt when the club played in League One and the Championship.
He also featured for Cambridge United in League Two and had spells across the National League and Isthmian League.
His father, John Chiedozie, was a well-known winger for Tottenham Hotspur after joining in 1984 for £375,000.
