Arsenal are having a great run in the Premier League. They are currently at the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners are four points ahead of Manchester City at the moment.
Under Andrea Berta, Arsenal had a fantastic summer transfer window. They were able to attract almost all the players Mikel Arteta wanted to sign this summer.
It is fair to mention that the performances of the Gunners last summer played a crucial role in that. Players can see that Arsenal are on an upward trajectory.
Last season, Arsenal didn’t win a trophy. However, they were second in the Premier League and played the semi-finals of the Champions League.
They even beat Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. Those stunning performances were enough to catch the attention of the entire Europe.
And, with Andrea Berta taking up the role of the sporting director of the Gunners, things became easy for them.
Arsenal are preparing to make another major off-field move that could reshape their recruitment strategy for years to come.
The Premier League side are in advanced talks to bring in Napoli’s head of scouting, Maurizio Micheli, for a key leadership role within the club’s new-look structure.
According to the BBC, discussions are already at an advanced stage, with Micheli expected to finalise his move to the Emirates Stadium soon.
The Italian has earned a glowing reputation for his sharp eye in talent identification. He discovered stars such as Marek Hamsik, Kim Min-jae, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during his time in Serie A.
Furthermore, the club has been undergoing significant change over the past year, following the departures of sporting director Edu Gaspar and his deputy Jason Ayto.
In April, Arsenal appointed Andrea Berta as sporting director, and he is now playing a central role in redefining the club’s recruitment vision.
Also, Micheli’s experience across Bologna, Brescia, Verona, and Napoli has made him one of Italy’s most respected talent-spotters.
If Micheli’s appointment is confirmed, it would represent another strategic coup for Arsenal.
