Harry Kane returned to North London with Bayern Munich, and he delivered a message that has set fans off.
Bayern Munich lost to Arsenal by 3-1 convincingly. But Kane made some comments before the game that have made fans go mad at him.
The England captain said that the Premier League football has changed for the worse. He thinks the focus on set-plays is becoming too much.
The 32-year-old said during the pre-match press conference for the clash against Arsenal in the Champions League:
“Watching the Premier League is probably a little less enjoyable than it has been in recent years, to be honest. There have definitely been more set plays.
“But that’s kind of the evolution of football. Sometimes, it comes in like this, and that’s the case this year.
“Arsenal have capitalised on that and are a really strong set-play team. We’ve done the normal preparation that we do in every game.
“Obviously, we looked at what they do well and their threats and how we can try and stop that.”
Kane prepared for the game as usual but knew Arsenal would lead the way in this area. And the Gunners opened their scoring through a set piece.
Bayern studied their strengths, and the Bavarians knew exactly what threat awaited them tonight. But the German club still failed to avoid conceding on the set piece.
Harry Kane has a long history with Arsenal and still carries feelings from his rejection as an eight-year-old.
Scoring against them brings him extra joy, and his record backs that up. He has scored 15 times in 21 matches against the Gunners. But on this night, Kane failed to deliver.
Kane now turns his focus to the Bundesliga, where they play FC St. Pauli this weekend.
So, the German club will be looking to get back to their best after the disappointing Champions League clash at North London.
