Manchester United grabbed a vital win at Selhurst Park, beating Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace. Before kickoff, the hosts were clearly expected to come out on top.
Plus, they went ahead near halftime thanks to a penalty by Jean-Philippe Mateta.
A United player shone brightly during that match and really stood out from the rest. However, a talkSPORT pundit believes that his England career is all over.
Luke Shaw produced another brilliant Premier League display for Manchester United, but Troy Deeney believes his England career is finished.
The defender stood out in United’s narrow victory over Crystal Palace, picking up a 2–1 result; Deeney called him the top performer live on talkSPORT.
Shaw’s dealt with injuries lately, and so coaches usually brought him in short stints instead of starting him weekly. But things changed this season.
Ruben Amorim’s picked him every time across the 13 matches, slotting him in on the left of a three-man defense. Shaw looks settled again and delivered key moments at Selhurst Park.
With United already trailing, his recovery tackle on Eddie Nketiah prevented a certain goal after a slip from Matthijs de Ligt. Later, he made another big block to stop Yeremy Pino.
Those actions convinced Deeney to give him the award ahead of goal-scorers Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount.
Deeney said Shaw produced the most complete performance in a match without a clear standout. Yet when questioned about Shaw joining the national team, his reply was sharp.
He thinks England’s past that now, given how many left-backs Tuchel’s tried lately, switching them around quite a bit.
Mount grabbed attention thanks to a smart move off a set-piece alongside Bruno Fernandes, one he broke down later.
His fast attack clinched United’s turnaround victory while keeping their climb in the standings alive. The Red Deviils take on West Ham at Old Trafford this week in a midweek league clash.
