Manchester United welcomed West Ham United for the Premier League clash at Old Trafford last night.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw. This result will now pile up the pressure on Ruben Amorim. United enjoyed a three-game winning streak previously.
They defeated Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton & Hove Albion in those three games. Since then, things have once again gone south for Amorim.
They had to settle for a draw against both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur. However, the loss to a 10-man Everton at Old Trafford was a shock for the Red Devils.
Manchester United did get a win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend. Yet, this draw against relegation-battling West Ham will hurt them a lot.
Diogo Dalot put them in front in the 58th minute of the game. However, Soungoutou Magassa equalized towards the end of the game for the Hammers.
With this result, the Red Devils have once again squandered a chance to get into the Champions League qualification spot in the Premier League table.
However, Ruben Amorim is not the only man who is getting criticised after the game. Manchester United fans are also getting criticised for a banner they put up at Old Trafford.
Lisandro Martinez was on the bench at Old Trafford, and United fans wanted to show their love to their Argentine defender.
Martinez’s nickname is the ‘Butcher’ because of his aggressive style on the pitch. That is why United fans put up an Argentina flag with a cleaver in the middle.
They wanted to signify the return of their Argentinian butcher in that game. However, that flag has offended many.
One fan on social media commented that the flag is embarrassing, and another said that the flag colour represents Manchester City, their biggest rivals.
Manchester United will travel to Molineux to take on another relegation-battling side, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
If Ruben Amorim’s men fail to get three points from that game, the Portuguese manager’s position will be under heavy scrutiny.
