UEFA have confirmed that there were three separate rule breaches during the Champions League clash between Arsenal vs Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium.

The German side lost 3-1 to Mikel Arteta’s team. But the fallout from that game has continued off the pitch.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has now imposed fines totalling €70,000 (£61,000) on Bayern.

The Bavarians have to pay the fine because of incidents involving their travelling supporters.

Bayern were charged with throwing objects, crowd disturbances, and transmitting messages deemed unfit for a sports event, including illicit banners.

UEFA confirmed they are imposing a fine of €40,000 on Bayern for crowd disturbances and the throwing of objects.

There will be a further €30,000 penalty for the offensive messages their fans displayed.

These reports of Disturbances came from the away end before kick-off. There were clashes between Bayern fans and stewards.

These clashes prompted police intervention as officials did their best to restore order. The sanctions come with Bayern already under scrutiny.

UEFA previously punished Bayern after their fans threw fireworks and objects during an away fixture against Lazio in February 2024.

There was also a similar breach during a group-stage game at Copenhagen in October 2023. This resulted in a suspended away ban.

On the pitch, Arsenal produced an impressive performance. Jurrien Timber opened the scoring before Lennart Karl equalised.

Second-half goals from Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli sealed the win.

Despite the defeat, Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich played down Arsenal’s performance. He told TNT Sports Brazil:

“No, I don’t think so. I think PSG were the toughest one… The win was well-deserved, but we have to learn from this game.”

Since that game, Arsenal have maintained their perfect record after six games in the Champions League.

For Bayern, the loss against the Gunners is still the only time they have lost a game this season in Europe.
